PDF Redactor (Black Out)
Draw black rectangles on a PDF and download a redacted file: the content underneath is removed
PDF Redactor Online — Securely Black Out Text
Black out confidential information in a PDF document right in your browser. Upload the PDF, draw black rectangles over the parts to hide, and download a redacted file. Unlike a simple overlaid rectangle, the modified pages are flattened to an image: the underlying text and data are removed and can no longer be selected or recovered. Everything runs on your device — no file is uploaded to any server.
100% local processing in your browser. No files are sent to external servers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the text under the rectangles really removed?
Yes. Pages with redacted areas are rendered to an image with the rectangles applied: the original text on those pages is no longer in the file, so it cannot be selected or extracted. Pages without redactions stay unchanged (selectable text).
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser. No file leaves your device.
Does it work with many-page PDFs?
Yes. Pages are loaded and rendered one at a time to stay light even with large documents, and only the pages you actually redacted are reprocessed.
Does the quality of redacted pages change?
Pages with redactions become high-resolution images (2x), so they stay crisp but are no longer selectable. Other pages keep their original quality and text.
